Meet
Daggerhashimoto.
That's me online. Student, developer, pre-AP Tesla enthusiast. We bought our 2014 P85 new. It's been the family car for over a decade now, and honestly it's still the best car we've ever owned.
No Autopilot, though. Never had it. When I found Tinkla and saw what was possible, I knew I had to get involved. NAP started as a fork and turned into something a lot of people wanted.
The mission
Every pre-Autopilot Tesla deserves driver assistance.
Pre-Autopilot Teslas shipped without the sensor suite that later models got. No forward camera, no radar, none of it. But with the right hardware and openpilot, these cars can do things Tesla never intended.
Over 25,000 pre-AP Model S vehicles are still on the road without any driver assistance. With the right hardware and software, that doesn't have to be the case.
openpilot already solved the hard parts. We just had to wire it up to a different car.
Standing on shoulders
NotAutopilot wouldn't exist without the Tinkla project, which first proved that openpilot could work on pre-Autopilot Teslas. That was a big deal.
We're building on that foundation. Expanding hardware support, growing the community, pushing what's possible. Tinkla opened the door. We're walking through it together.
