How it works

What you need.

Five parts. Three required, two optional. That's all it takes to bring driver assistance to your pre-AP Model S.

The brain

required

comma 3X / comma 4

The compute platform that runs NotAutopilot. Mounts behind your rearview mirror and handles the entire driving stack — camera input, path planning, vehicle control.

The connection

required

OBD-C adapter

Bridges your Tesla's CAN bus to the comma device. This is how NAP talks to your car — reading speed, steering angle, and sending control commands.

The link

required

USB-C cable

A solid data connection between the comma and the OBD adapter. Don't cheap out here. Get a cable rated for data + power delivery.

Longitudinal control

optional

Pedal module

Gives NAP control over acceleration and braking. Without it, you get lane centering only. With it, you get full adaptive cruise.

Extended perception

optional

Radar module

Extends the car's forward perception for more confident following distance at highway speeds. Pairs with the pedal module for the full ADAS experience.
